Learn online

Internet:

Learn the Net has tutorials and news about surfing the Internet. Great tutorials regarding the Internet are found at Learnthenet.com.

Programs:

Another site that has training is Training Tools. You can print or view online the instructions for various computer programs. If you want to learn about computer programs (mostly Microsoft programs) then you want to visit ACTDEN.

For some free downloads pertaining to computer programs, check out Customguide.com.

PCShowandTell.com is a Internet library of thousands of voice-enabled shows that help you maximize the use of your favorite software and websites. Includes shows on Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Windows, ICQ, AOL and many more. You will be required to download software to view the shows.

Microsoft has Free Downloads.

The site listed below has a wide variety of topics. I chose "Computers & Home Electronics" and found the information to be accurate. I plan to use this site in the future: ehow.com (Free registration is required to read complete information.)

HowStuffWorks (has a pop-up) is a great site, with many different topics. From what I see, this site has more in depth information than ehow.com.

So You Wanna has a large variety of topics to choose from. And look at WannaLearn for more tutorials.

School

Free-Ed has courses from high school to college and also computer related.

Financial aid for scholarship

Free course through Barnes and Noble. Have not tried it yet myself. If you do, let me know how you like it. It is changing to book clubs in November 2006.

    Online books

Would you like to read books for free? Below is a list of web sites that offer free online books:

IPL has many topics to choose from.

If you need to write a report on a book, you may buy a study guide, or you could turn to the Internet and find free study guides at SparkNotes™.

Now if you want to hear the book, you might want to check these sites:

Audible.com (pop-up) includes a large variety of books and talk shows by Robin Williams. Some books I saw on the main page cost $1.95 to download.

MediaBay.com has books and also old radio programs to choose from.

Want to hear the pronunciation of a word? Try Miriam-Webster's Dictionary (pop-up):

    Buying a house overview

    Buying a home overview

Whether you are buying a home to occupy, to use as an investment rental property, or to rehab and sell for a profit there is a wealth of information available for the Memphis area. Primarily listed here are resources for Shelby County, TN.

Get a map to the location

      Memphis, Tennessee Real Estate

Search Commercial Appeal Real Estate Classifieds

Under "Marketplace Quick Search", click on the Real Estate tab. You are given options for the county, area, minimum size, and maximum price.

Once you have the results page, you can sort by:

      • Location
      • Bed/Bath
      • Type
      • Acres
      • Price
      • Contact

What I found interesting is that many ads do not include prices. One way to be able to see listings with prices is to choose the minimum price of $50,000.00. Of course the means you would not see any under $50,000.00 or any without prices. With the financing I have available, I only want to see properties over $50,000.00. You need to decide what works best for your needs.

You may save your searches if you register with the site. Commercial Appeal Ad Rover search.

      Search Yahoo Real Estate Classifieds

Type in the city and state or zip you would like to search. I like to use the minimum price of $30,000.00 as this will still fit in my criteria.

      Search For:

      • Existing Homes - redirects to Prudential's listings
      • Yahoo! Classifieds - keeps you within Yahoo's site
      • New Homes - keeps you within Yahoo's site

So far I have found great properties using the Existing Homes option. Even though it redirects to Prudential, there are properties from many different agencies there.

The Yahoo! Classifieds has many with "Address not listed". This can be a problem as I like to research the property before deciding if I want to contact the agent.

      Search various classifieds sites:

        Buying an automobile overview

        Buying an automobile overview

Whether you are buying a car, truck or SUV you want to make sure you are not getting a lemon, yet getting the best value. You can purchase a car from a dealer or private seller. They can be found online or in the classifieds. Here are some sites I have found to be helpful.

        Finding an automobile online

You can search by various criteria, and sort by most of them. For example, you can look for:
        • Make
        • Model
        • Year range
        • Price range
        • etc.
Most people know about eBay. There is an entire "Motors" section on their site. Once I have the list I like to sort by distance, so we can calculate the added cost of getting the vehicle to us.
Another site you may have heard of is Autotrader.

Magazines you can pick up for free in Memphis area

        Autos-magazine.com - http://www.autosetcmag.com/
        http://www.autoextra.com/
        http://www.automart.com/

        Automobile dealer sites

        http://maps.google.com/maps?...&cd=2

Checking the history of an automobile

First check the history of a car at http://www.carfax.com. While this is not a complete history of all records for all cars, it does give a great deal of information that would otherwise cost a lot to gather yourself. You can pay for one time use or for 30 days. You will also see car listings near you that match the vehicle that you are checking.

Finding the value of an automobile

Next, you will want to know the value of a car. This can vary so you may want to use all three that are listed below. For these you need to know:
        • Make
        • Model
        • Year
        • Trim
        • Miles
        • Additional options
http://www.nadaguides.com matches the NADA which our credit union uses, helping me know what they will finance.
http://www.kbb.com seems to be what the auto dealers are using. So this can help you see what to expect on a car they have listed.
http://www.edmunds.com includes a feature when you appraise a car, that allows you to print a window sticker to put in a car you are selling.

        Update 10/25/2013
New site that shows cars for sale:

        Coupon Organizing

        Organizing

        Binder:

I used to organize coupons by category. One day I was in Walgreen's, and asked the lady in cosmetics if she had a coupon for Airborne. She opened her organizer and pulled it right out of the A's. That is when I changed to alphabetical and have saved so much time. Early each month I go through and pull all coupons that expired the previous month. This takes about 30 minutes and I can do it while watching a TV show.

Additionally, when I printed coupons from Nature Made's website, Rite Aid was listed as the store. One week in our mail there was an ad for Rite Aid that included $5.00 off $25.00 purchase, one per week for 4 weeks.)

Have not tried this myself yet, but here is link to articles that include Aldi meal plans for one month using products from Aldi's. A family of four eat one month for $130.00.
